Ito Yuna was born to a Japanese father and a Korean-American mother in Los Angeles, California. Her family later moved to Oahu, Hawaii where she remained until the start of her singing career in Japan. From a young age Ito dreamed about becoming a singer, after being inspired by the powerful vocals of Mariah Carey. At the age of fifteen she was offered a music contract, but turned down because “they saw her as a girl and not a singer”.

In Misaki’s school days, she was an amateur model for a magazine. When she was college-age she made her debut in the entertainment world.

Misaki began as the img girl (or spokesperson) for Asahi Beer in 1999. She was also under exclusive contract as a model for the magazine CanCam. In 2000 Misaki made her acting debut in the drama Love Chat. After this she became famous for being seen in such commercials as “Choya Ume Liquor”.

In 2005, Misaki co-starred as Hermes in the wildly popular drama Densha Otoko. After this she was in another popular drama, Kiken na Aneki, and Fuji TV ratings were sky high. With the help of these dramas, Misaki won the “Japan Golden Raspberry Award” for her collection.

Misaki has also been in a handful of horror movies like Ju-on. Ken-On actors and actresses are frequently seen in these movies; Ichikawa Yui and Uehara Misa were also in the film.
